We aim to provide a relaxing place to live where residents can enjoy all the comforts of home with comfortable accommodation and shared facilities, 24-hour care and support from a dedicated team of staff and the opportunity to continue to do things they enjoy most to lead a fulfilling life at our home. Residents are encouraged to maintain outside interests and links with family and friends and take part in our extensive activity program.
Our experienced care manager and her team of highly trained care staff work closely with residents and their loved ones to put together a personalised care plan to meet their individual care needs and aspirations whilst maintaining dignity, choice and independence. They are supported by a dedicated team of visiting health care professionals which include GPs, District and Specialist nurses, Older Peoples Mental Health Team, Physiotherapist, Optician, Chiropodist, Dietician, Speech therapist, Dentist and Audiologist to ensure the best standards of care.
The well furnished rooms at our home have delightful views of the secluded gardens with visiting wildlife such as birds, squirrels and friendly neighbourhood cats. All rooms are fully equipped with a 24-hour call system and smoke detector and we encourage our residents to bring their own possessions, such as small ornaments and photos, to help them feel at home during their stay.
Traditional home cooked food is served daily including homemade cakes and desserts. Our kitchen staff use fresh and local ingredients to produce well balanced, nutritious and wholesome meals for our residents and meals are planned to a weekly menu. Our residents are well catered for and enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and refreshments daily.
Special diets can be catered for to meet individual health needs, tastes and requirements, and visitors may dine with family members by prior arrangement. Our kitchen staff are happy to provide personalised cakes for special occasions.
We make sure something interesting is planned daily to help keep our residents’ minds and bodies active and so they feel fulfilled in their daily lives. We understand the importance of pastimes and interactions for our residents and so aim to have a varied programme of daily activities, as well as encouraging them to keep up existing hobbies.
We hold reminiscence sessions, quizzes and bingo, as well as special events, such as the summer barbecue and Christmas Party. We have regular visits by local entertainers, Pets as Therapy and the mobile library and hold a monthly church service in the home with holy communion. There are regular planned seasonal outings which include shopping, fish and chips at the seaside, feeding the animals and ice creams at the Staunton Country Park and afternoon tea at the local garden centre. We’re always pleased to welcome family and friends along on these outings and transport can be arranged with our community partners Good Neighbours and Community First.
